Went from shock and extreme stress to slightly less stress. Started about a week into August. Took husband to emergency room. Three days later we were in Baltimore waiting to get open heart surgery. I stayed with him for two weeks in hospital. Can't drive beltway. Then two weeks of getting rides to rehab and him complaining about lack of sleep due to various reasons. He has been home two weeks now. Days as not as stressful but are still stressful.
Oh good grief, the Capital Beltway. I remember back when I lived in Ellicott City [1980's] and would drive to Reston, Virginia and part of my commute was on the Beltway. I was driving a Honda back when those cars were first introduced, and they were tiny back then. Small enough to make a u-turn in a two car garage. But I was young back then, and that made a huge difference.
Here is what I recommend you do as ASAP, see your primary doctor and see if you can get some meds to take the edge off. Oh how I wished I would have done that years ago instead of recently. I hated prescription meds so I kept putting it off. Otherwise the stress could make you crash and burn.
We also got to remember, we are thrown into a "job" that we have had very little training, with no one to mentor us, with no pay, no vacation days, no sick days. I know you do it for the love of your spouse. And there are days you wish you could clone yourself into a half dozen people.
