To find a free lawyer, also known as "pro bono" (meaning no benefit to the lawyer) do a web search for your state bar association, like: Missouri bar association. When you find their web site, look for "pro bono" on the home page, or search for it with their search box.

Not to challenge Eyerishlass's advice, but you need a criminal attorney to address elder abuse charges, as raised in your other post. If there is police misconduct as you claim, a criminal attorney will know how to address it.

To find one, contact your local county or state bar association or check their websites. Search by criminal attorneys, and start calling to see if they'll take the case.

But police don't just confiscate someone and send them away. It probably would help for you to also try to find pro bono (free) legal advice to help sort out the situation and determine what rights you have.

You can find pro bono attorneys by the same method as you can find a criminal attorney.

I think you would need an elder law attorney. Google your city and state and "elder law attorney".

Also, at the top of the page here all the way on the right is a tab for "money and legal". You can try that as well.
