Find Care & Housing
Go to the VA and take receipt for cremation. That would probably be all you would be entitled to, if that.

No you can't.
You might have been able to get paid while you were caring for him.
And if your husband was a Veteran you could have gotten paid to care for him as well.
You get benefits from your husband that is all you are entitled to.

No, you cannot receive benefits for the friend. I would try and see if u could get reimbursed for his cremation. The VA will cover the cost of him being buried in a VA cemetery or a National cemetery. He will get a plaque. You need to call your local VA office.

If you weren't married to the best friend, you can't just get benefits because you took care of him. You'd need proof that you were legally married.

I'm a Vietnam veteran's spouse. I won't get benefits until he dies, and I need all sorts of paperwork to set that in motion once he passes away.

If you are uncertain, call the VA.
