Strained family. Mother is in Hospice in another state. There are no POA's. Looking to just do right or what any "normal" family would do. She was evicted from her apartment because of being in the hospital, now hospice. So I am assuming mail is being returned. She is not "with it" enough to sign USPS documents. Is there a way for me to forward it? Here just trying to do right. HELP!

You can but you have to have a credit or debit card whose billing address matches the forwarding address. That's how they verify you're not some random person who wants to get all my mail.

I have POA, but didn't take it with me and the nice lady at the USPO let me fill out a form forwarding mail to my house. The next year when I went to do that again, it was a different person that demanded to see the POA. I drove to a different USPO and they didn't want to see any paperwork and let me fill out the form. You do not have to fill out the form in the county your mom lived in or you live in. You can keep trying offices till one lets you fill out the form.

I forwarded my dad’s mail to my house just by filling out the form at the post office. No one asked me anything
