Today a home health agency came for intake. GUIDE covers 72 (thought it was 80 but okay) hours a year in 4-hour increments, from July 1 to June 30. The 72-hours don't roll over; what's not used is lost.
Since we've just gotten enrolled, we have the entire 72 hours to use up by June 30.
The aide will ASSIST with bathing, dressing, and feeding; they won't do an ADL the LO cannot do on their own. Light housekeeping (tidying up LO's room) is also included. The same person will come for the regularly scheduled visits, but that may not be the case for as-needed visits.
I was asked what schedule I'd like; I couldn't think that far, so I took one 4-hour afternoon next week and then 4 8-hour days the first of June to be in-person for my volunteer ministry the first time since the pandemic. So that's half the allotment...
And I just got an email inviting me to sign up with a portal through which I can make visit requests and also see notes the aide makes about tasks done or LO's mood. The email also says a nurse will come for assessment; their notes will also be accessible in the portal.
I just let the agency owner know that I'll be asking lots of questions for myself but that I'm also sharing my experience with other caregivers. So if you have a question... And since it looks like I'll have plenty of material to start a blog, I may carve out some time to do that. Hey, I've got 36 hours to focus to business...

My Mom received a survey through her medical portal that is related to the Guide program. I haven’t looked at it yet. I haven’t made any request so am thinking it was sent to her based on her age and maybe some of her medical history (impairment diagnosis).
