What do you want to happen?
You're going to have to learn to let go. You will have no control over his actions or behavior. If letting go control is difficult for you, you might consider therapy.

I would probably put a piece of candy on the floor for him to find. What a happy surprise!

Just put some wrapped candy pieces on the floor that he can find. That should satisfy him. Of course, talk to his doctor when you can.

Have you gotten him to the doctor yet? Your posts are all about hubbys dreams. Dreams mean nothing in the grand scheme of things, and w/o a proper diagnosis, what can we tell you? He can have dementia or 100 other conditions or nothing at all.
