Looks like it’s geared to having to work 3 years in a rural NHs with dual certified beds (Medicare &Medicaid). And geared towards this being something student nurses will want to do after graduating.

Personally I just cannot see a newly minted BSRN or an about to graduate RN student who has done their education and training at teaching hospitals / health science centers filled with latest technology + equipment and staffed with lots of other professionals, just happily wanting to be starting their career in a rural & understaffed NH filled with impoverished & ill residents for a required 3 years. It’s a l..o..n..g time to be fixed in rural America for at best only 10K directly into their wallets. IMO whoever thought this up views nurses from a 1950-70’s viewpoint where they are 100% subservient female workers, not the current male & female BSRN professionals making 6 figures or close to it.

Key Takeaways
CMS launched a $275 million Nurses for Nursing Homes initiative Friday, with applications opening Monday, October 26.
Eligible RNs and LPN/LVNs can receive up to $40,000 in student loan repayment plus a $10,000 stipend, for a maximum of $50,000, in exchange for a three-year commitment at a qualifying nursing home.
Funding is first-come, first-served and allocated by state. Applicants enter the queue once their applications are complete, so eligible nurses should apply early even though applications remain open through 2027.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

thanks for posting.
